Caffeine Soaked Noir Journal : Chapter 1
She didn't have to ask my opinion about her job performance because both of us already knew that she was the worst grave digger we had ever seen. I had seen burying her bluebird ten times, hundred times, thousand times, million times ... digging deeper into the labyrinth only to be found later directed around the surface because of its unauthorized trespasses.
"Why don't you quit the job?", I asked her every time I saw her pale defunct face staring at her bluebird where her olfactory organs had gone to full strike against its stinky rotten body.
"I wish I knew how to get away from this stinky thing then my job as a gravedigger could finally be ended.", she replied with an unmoved face.
"Do you feel sorry for it, considering its eternal damnation into the dead lands?"
"How could I feel anything if it sucked up all my feelings in its body years after years?"
"Do you think it's alive rather than a dead bluebird?"
"I don't know what's dead or alive but I only felt sucked up by its spongy body when I stood next to it. Maybe, I had been dead for long being drained out all my sensations into this thing. So, I should be buried rather than this dangerous thirsty bluebird."
"Didn't you read the authorization paper? The deceased got a name there." I changed the topics noticing her pale face through the corner of my eye.
"Of course, I read it, but at that time my consciousness was already devoured by the bluebird. So, I guess I couldn't link it to the correct identity. I did what I supposed to do but not what should be done."
"Do you think that's the reason behind your failure to bury this thing?"
"Most probably, otherwise every time I touched the body, I won't felt life inside it, and that was my life, it took my life to be alive."
I watched both of them with a dead gaze because I didn't know whom should be pitied, whom should be responsible, whom should be forgiven, whom should be excused, who should be rewarded or punished, or, whom should be liberated. "I see, then my friend please be prepared for your final job, this time you won't fail because you read the authorization paper correctly", and I said what I supposed to say.
"It's the hardest task to bury my own body and seeing it from the ground. But, I will take time"
So, I left her inert body there promising I would be present at the right time.
